MacBook Retina Screen taken Apart

Last week iFixit took apart a new Retina MacBook to see the innovations Apple used in the MacBook Air that were then used in the new Apple device. This of course, was to reduce the machines thickness. However, the company noted how the increased slimness did limit user’s ability to repair and upgrade the laptops components.

MacBook Retina Screen taken Apart

The 2880×1800 LCD is so tightly integrated into the whole display that iFixit broke the display when taking it apart. This means that anyone looking to replace the display would have to simply swap the whole thing rather than perform a repair.

It seems cables were routed through hinges, there were 48 LEDs at the bottom of the screen and there were numerous diffuser, prism and polarising sheets used to create the images on screen.
