Despite the popularity of Apple products many users of the ear buds, particularly those who like to be active, have been complaining about how uncomfortable or unstable the EarPods can sometimes be, repeatedly falling out or needing to be readjusted whilst the user is active or leaking noise when music is played too loud in public areas.

Apple earbuds made more comfortable with designer Sprng Clips

Designers at OHM in Canada, however, have come up with the Sprng Clip – a simple yet useful device which helps the EarPods to stay put while the user takes a run or rides their bike to work. The ear buds are connected by sliding or clipping them in with a little push as is shown in the video here. Additionally, once connected the Sprng Clips can be adjusted to ensure full comfort to the user.

The clips are designed to only accommodate the EarPods released with the newest iPhone 5, iPod Nano and iPod Touch and will cost $10 (£6.47) a pair. To keep with Apple fashion they will be sold in both grey and white.

The ear buds released with the iPhone 5 in September 2012 were designed to fit into the ear more snugly and described by Apple designer Jonathan Ive as ‘a breakthrough for ears everywhere … Making one headphone to fit everybody’s ears would be like trying to make one pair of shoes to fit everybody’s feet — I mean it’s impossible’ yet users still complained about how uncomfortable they sometimes were.

In similar news, Apple recently filed a patent for ear buds which are designed to adjust the volume if they are not inserted far enough into the ear.
